Benagil is also a part of the Algarve’s most renowned and picturesque hiking route, the Seven Hanging Valleys, which leads you on a 7.4-mile adventure along the coastline and its breathtaking vistas. For safety precautions, the area around the skylight is enclosed, yet you can still catch a glimpse from the trail. To experience this natural marvel, your sole opportunity is to access it via boat, kayak, or paddleboard. While it’s technically feasible to swim to the cave, it’s not advisable due to the hazardous rocky shoreline, strong swells, and rough seas.

To avoid the crowds when visiting the renowned Benagil cave in the Algarve, consider arriving early in the morning or later in the evening. Another option is to explore the area during the off-peak summer season. Algarve boasts ample sunshine, making it a delightful destination in both spring and autumn as well, allowing you to fully relish all it has to offer
