Samsung and Travel Go Crypto
Samsung stores in the Baltic states announced on Friday that they will be accepting seven different cryptocurrencies via payment processor Coppay.
Coppay, a Euro fintech firm, allows customers to pay via cryptocurrencies in 31 merchant locations. Samsung has seemingly embraced Coppay’s slogan, “Turn on the Future,” by accepting seven different cryptocurrencies: Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Dash (DASH), Nem (Xem), Steem (STEEM), Ripple (XRP) and Litecoin (LTC)
Cryptocurrencies have seen extreme popularity in the Baltic states with digital assets gaining broad acceptance. Besides Latvia, which imposes a 20 percent capital gains tax on cryptocurrency exchanges, regulatory policies barely exist, enabling people to pay for coffee, bars, restaurants, hotels, various shops and even apartments, via Bitcoin.
Samsung similarly is well known for showing interest in blockchain technology by producing semiconductors for crypto currency mining devices.
In a similar story, XcelTrip, the travel company looking to disrupt the travel industry, has taken a similar stance on acceptance of cryptocurrencies as payment, which will roll out concurrently with its travel booking platform launch on August 1, 2018.
A Singapore based company pioneered by crypto evangelist Hob Khadka, XcelTrip will allow customers to start booking hotel rooms via their platform, XcelTrip.com. They will initially begin by accepting fiat as well as their very own utility token, the XcelToken (XCEL), built on the Ethereum ERC20 platform. But soon after, they will also incorporate Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ripple and Ethereum for payment. This is all in the hope of decentralizing the travel industry and incorporating blockchain technology into their modus operandi.
A self-funded company built on the ideology of implementing numerous usecases across various verticals for XcelToken, XcelTrip will look to be a crypto pioneer in the travel space, a 7.6 trillion dollar industry. Initially offering hotel room bookings, XcelTrip will proceed by rolling out BnB, F&B and flight services in the coming months. Also with innovative products like XcelPay for their partnered merchants, look for XcelTrip to impose there influence on the crypto space as a whole.
