Delhi is the city of business and culture in India. It is referred to be one of the oldest inhabited cities throughout history. This is the main city where you can witness the progress of India, thanks to its landmarks and structures ranging from the minarets of the Mughal dynasty to the structures of British colonization. Since it was first established this city has been built and rebuilt a number of times.

If you’re planning to travel to India, then it is a must to place Delhi on top of your bucket list. It offers a vibrant and colorful worldview, not to forget it also provides a thriving culture developed by migrants from around the globe.

Among the things to do in Delhi are:

1.    Walk around Old Delhi

If you want to explore the city without having to spend so much on transportation, then better do it on foot. We suggest you follow a route that covers Red Fort, Chandni Chowk, Dariba Kalan, Jama Masjid, and Karim’s.

There are a lot to see in this route, such as the Shahjahanabad, which bears testament to the Mughal rule. You can start your walk from Red Fort, followed by Chandni Chowk, which is home to the city’s markets. You can then make a turn to Dariba Kalan, where you can find all sorts of jewellery, and then to Jama Masjid, one of the country’s largest mosques. You can later rest and enjoy a traditional Mughal meal at Karim’s in the Masjid area.

2.    Run at the Lodi Gardens

If you are a fitness buff, then you can start your day in Delhi by running at the Lodi Gardens. This place is near the Khan Market. We would not be surprised if you would rub elbows with the country’s elite, as they also do their morning regimen here.

The Lodi Gardens offer a lush stretch of greens, as well as some taste of history, such as the tombs of Mohammad Shah and Sikander Lodi.

In case you’re not the athletic type you could also have a picnic in the gardens with your friends.

3.    Take a stroll at Rajpath

Central Delhi, also known as Lutyens’ Delhi, is known to be the seat of political power in the country. Here you can explore the government structures and buildings, which showcase exquisite British architecture. You can also see famous buildings such as the Secretariat Building, which is the home to the Prime Minister’s office, various ministries, as well as the Parliament of India.

4.    Explore Humayun’s Tomb

There are a lot of historical monuments located in the different parts of Delhi, and one of them is Humayun’s Tomb. This tomb is found in Nizamuddin East and is made of red sandstone that reflects intricate inlay work of Central and Persian artisans.
