It is historical for being the political center of monarchy in Austria. The rooms of the imperial palace had once been devoted to the revolutionary plans of reform by the late Emperor Joseph II. It had also witnessed functions for the Congress of Austria and catered to many different people for Emperor Franz Joseph. Its rich history is enough to make it a popular palace in Austria.

The world of the Habsburg, the most significant royal house in Austria, can be experienced in the Hofburg Imperial Palace. It is the home of the Imperial Silver Collection, the Sisi Museum, and the Imperial Apartments.

The Hofburg lies at the centre of Vienna and can best be reached by underground or other public transport. The entrance to the museums is directly below the great copper dome called the Michaelerkuppel, reached via the Michaelertor, the gate on the north-eastern side of the palace on Michaelerplatz.

The Arc de Triomphe in Innsbruck is the city’s most interesting and vibrant landmark. They erected an arch where the South Gate was located earlier. In 1976, Maria Theresa ordered the construction of an arch in honor of the marriage of her son Leopold II with Princess Maria.

The Arc de Triomphe construction in Innsbruck was ordered from stone. As a result, it is perfectly preserved and has survived to this day. The designer and construction manager were Konstantin Volter, and Johan Gayenauer was involved in the decoration. Reliefs depict symbols of the Habsburg monarchy and Maria Theresa. The arch is still striking in its beauty and grandeur.

Most of the historical monuments of Innsbruck are concentrated within Altstadt - between the Valley of the Inn and Graben Street, laid on the site of the moat that once surrounded the medieval core of the city. From south to north, the area is cut by the main artery of Innsbruck - Maria-Theresien-Strasse, famous for its picturesque panorama (it rests almost against the majestic wall of the Nordkette).
